This is your first step towards understanding your donor. Donors—dormant and active—can be characterized into five basic categories: Noble (cause), Obligation, Benefit, Legacy, and Ego. When the first letter of each of these categories is set to a word, the result is NOBLE. When it applies to community or religious organizations, there is a customized version named NOBLE + C/R. The C stands for community and the R stands for religion.
The survey is specially designed and is executed in the mail and on-line. Through a series of carefully worded questions—customized for the institution—the respondent categorizes their primary motivation for supporting your institution.
